How to get rid of Grackles, Starlings, and Blackbirds in trees and landscaped areas.

Controlling depradations and health hazards by many bird nuisance species is easily done by avian control experts with years of experience like AFI. For example, House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris), Domestic Pigeon or Rock Dove (Columba livia), Monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus), Eurasian Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto), Canada Goose (Branta canadensis), captive-bred birds like Mallards, Yellow-headed blackbirds, Red-winged blackbirds, Rusty blackbirds, Brewer's blackbirds, Cowbirds, Common Grackles, Great-tailed Grackles, Boat-tailed Grackles, Crows, and Magpies may all create health hazards and depradations easily controlledd with appropriate active barrier techniques. The most common problem birds are Grackles and Starlings.

Note that commonly available stationary bird control devices are typically not effective.

Bird control methods for Grackles, Starlings, and Blackbirds include:

Mechanical Devices that disrupt the birds or try to scare them away only work for a few weeks at best. Electric bird barriers will keep Grackles off of rooflines, and Starlings from nesting on beams, signs, and billboards.

Sound Devices and Ultrasonic Devices. Sound devices that you mount near trees or structures are ineffective to get rid of Grackles, Starlings, and Blackbirds for more than a short distance and only for a few weeks or so. These electronic bird control devices will keep the birds only a few feet from the stimulus area. These machines are loud and frequently not effective for more than 25 feet. This is the one of the most common devices that persons use unsuccessfully to control bird infestations in trees and structures.

Active Barriers are the best way to get rid of Grackles, Starlings, and Blackbirds. An Active Barrier is a set or combination of physical stimuli that effectively block an area from the birds. AFI in Texas has 20 years experience perfecting their proprietary Active Barrier, and it has unmatched results. Like all of AFI's bird control products, there are imitators, yet no other matches the results of AFI.

Radar and sound beams are components up some of the many types of Active Barriers. Such high tech devices cost several thousand dollars because they use high tech radio and sound stimuli. Even those these cost tens of thousands of dollars, they are less effective than AFI's expert stimuli methodologies and procedures. The reason is simple, birds are adaptive and if you let them adapt, they will. Allowing birds to adapt to devices and contraptions that become virtually static stimuli to the birds means that these very costly devices become ineffective. This is because if the birds figure out the stimuli is not alive, then it is just another part of the static environment or ignorable environment. Active stimuli barriers are the only way to overcome such adaptive realities of nuisance pest birds. Knowing how to apply such techniques with each species is essential.

Birds or prey or Falconers are effective for a small radius of a few hundred feet, while the Falconers are onsite actively applying the stimuli. This form of active barrier leaves bird carcasses and feathers around the environment. In addition, the effects fade away as quickly as a week or so and the birds may soon come back. Many falconers say the effects last longer; however, the truth is that pest birds in large flocks find the loss of few of the flock to falconers one of the less challenging problems they encounter in their daily survival routine. In addition, what controls whether pest bird flocks return to certain areas remains an external variable to the falconer's stimuli. Any bird expert knows that, although most falconers are not bird control experts, they are Falconers moonlighting in bird control. Thus, falconing is an inefficient means to institute a reliable barrier to the birds.

Barriers like bird nets in trees work, yet many times birds get in the nets and cannot get out or get tangled in the nets and die. Nets ruin the aesthetics of the environment and are not inexpensive to install or maintain due to growing trees and wind storms.

Fogging is sometimes effective, yet it is frequently an irritant to the nasal membranes of guests and workers in the area. Fogging is an extremely inefficient method of forming an active barrier.

Why control the pest nuisance birds?

Because birds may carry many diseases, viruses, bacteria, and funguses avian control is important. Bird flocks are pesky foulers of the air, the air you breathe into your lungs. Clean and disease free air may be important to some, while some businesses do not consider clean air and bird mess a problem.

Grackles, starlings, vultures, buzzards, and other flocking pest birds, roosting in chemical plant structures overnight creating health hazards and safety risks need no longer be a problem. Avian FlyAway's active barrier non-lethally controls those nuisance flocks frequently found "concentrated in such numbers and manner that they are a health hazard or other nuisance." (www.fws.gov) Our service is non-lethal and flocking migratory species like Grackles, Cowbirds, and Dove are not poisoned or drugged to die with Avitrol. NO PESTICIDES, NO AVITROL, NO AVICIDES.

Within days of beginning our procedure, very noticeable results will occur and the flocking bird problem will be under control in treated/designated areas. Small and Medium sized plants can usually expect over 90% bird relocation from the whole plant property, while larger and mega complexes usually result in over 90% relocation from designated priority areas. For larger plants, this means approximately 75% of the plant property structures may be kept 90% free from flocking nuisance migratory birds. These results are easily maintained for as long as the service is in place. Managing your problem nuisance flocks and relocating to your plant's droppings problem is easy when you use Avian FlyAway! FWS requires that flocking depredations be approached with non-lethal means before using lethal means and Avian FlyAway is completely non lethal. We use no fogs or sprays and our process does not involve eating/taking birds like some more costly and less effective chemical plant processes. Thus, technically our process should be tried before lethal means according to FWS Migratory Treaty Act Title 50 Section 21.43 "Each Calendar Year, you must attempt to control depredation by species listed under this depredation order using NON-LETHAL methods before you may use lethal control."

Our trained personnel maintain an active barrier non-lethal no fly zone. Monitoring, subsequent follow up, and preventative maintenance treatments are part of the overall service. Both annual and seasonal contracts are available. Using our service prevents flocking bird's droppings infestation; this allows clients to eliminate the cost of cleaning up flocking poop problems.
